Totally ADD – the networky, chocolatey edition

September 18, 2009

While I want this blog to be an oasis that nourishes you, sometimes I come across remarkable stuff that has only a passing resemblance to relevant blog content. ADD is my excuse for the random fun you’ll find here. Enjoy!

Kissing frogs

Just about everyone I know hates networking.

The handshake, the exchange of elevator speeches, the business card swapping. Yuck! So much to hate. So much to press all your 7th grade buttons about fitting in and being liked.

That was me doing in-person networking until Grace Judson’s program called How to Kiss Frogs and Find Royalty. I learned so much – and now I actually like networking. And I feel like an authentic grown-up doing it!

Chocolate chip cookies…

This economy is challenging for practically everyone. But I’ve yet to see as creative a response to the economic downturn as Kristen at Katalyst Coaching.

Kristen’s doing a virtual bake sale – with real chocolate chip cookies – to help support her family.  I just put my order in this week and will be salivating until they arrive. Here’s to her realness and creativity!

Calling all divas (yes, you)

Speaking of networking, fun networking, I’ve just got to tell you about Superlicious Diva Business Day – the brainchild of the fabulous Lisa Hunter.

Put 20 or so of the most engaging entrepreneurial women you can think of into one online forum for one day only, give them interesting topics to discuss and brainstorm, and add a generous dose of helpfulness, and you’ve got Diva Day.

It’s awesome. I don’t miss a single one – and I’ve met all kinds of fantastic folks and created collaborations that have helped my business grow – and there’s not a trace of creepiness or a bad sportcoat in sight. Love. It.

The ADDness goes on, but I’ll stop here for now. Have you any shiny, random, networky, chocolatey suggestions to add?
